Dale Klco, the owner of 3rd Thought, Inc. and creator of the SaveYourBack Jack, got his first ride on a motorcycle at the age of 12. It was the summer of 1961. A guy with a beautiful Panhead Hydra-Glide stopped by his parents house because he wanted to impress Dale’s older sister. His sister wanted nothing to do with the biker. She wouldn’t even go out and say hello. Dale quickly went to the driveway and begged a ride. The biker thought he might get the beautiful girl by going through the little brother. As it turned out, the only love that developed was Dale’s love of motorcycles.
Dale bought his first motorcycle in 1969 while he was in the Navy. After a tour in Vietnam , his ship stopped in Japan. Dale bought a Honda CB750 and loaded it onto the ship. When the ship returned to the States 3 weeks later, Dale was discharged. He offloaded the Honda and, along with 2 Navy buddies, Dale spent the next 3 months touring the US . Motorcycles have been a part of his life ever since.
By 1972 the CB750 was a chopper. At the time, Dale worked in a body shop to put himself through college. It just made sense to get out the cutting torch and spray gun. Dale customized a 1994 Sportster that won 3rd place at the 1997 Rat’s Hole Show in Daytona. In 1999 he took 3rd place in the Rat’s Hole “Over 1000 Radical Class” with his custom Panhead Chopper. The Panhead was featured in several magazines and was on the cover of 2 magazines, one of which was from Belgium.
Needless to say, Dale is no stranger to one-off parts. When the thought for a device to lift a bike that has been dropped came upon him, Dale began the creative process again. The final result of several ideas, prototypes & sleepless nights is the SaveYourBack Jack. At the age of 59, Dale has turned his love of motorcycles into a business. Better late than never!
